Das vorliegende Buch zeigt, ausgehend von Schelling, Heidegger und Blumenberg, kritisch gegenüber Hegel und Foucault, wie kontingente, absolute Ereignisse als Geschichten erfahren und als erzähltes Wissen präsentiert werden. Als Berichte von Offenbarungen, als philosophische Heimatliteratur der Lebenswelt, als ästhetische Sinnzumutungen oder Aporien diskursiver Machtentfaltung versuchen Geschichten, das Flüchtige zu bannen. Dabei inszenieren sie ständig die Paradoxie, den Absolutismus der Realität zugleich darzustellen und zu verlieren. ›Geschichte wissen‹ betrifft als Erkenntnislehre geistiger Erfahrung wesentlich auch Theologie, Geschichtswissenschaft und Literaturtheorie.

As an epistomology of intellectual experience, ›Geschichte wissen‹ (Knowing History) also applies to theology, history and literary theory.
