James Yeates BVSc BSc DWEL DipECVS(AWBM) PhDMRCVS is Chief Veterinary Officer at the RSPCA. He is anactive member of the animal welfare research community, andpublishes on topics including animal welfare concepts and companionanimal welfare assessment. He is Chair of the BritishVeterinary Association (BVA) Ethics and Welfare Group and BritishSmall Animal Veterinary Association Welfare Committee, as well asbeing editor of the Journal of Animal Welfare Science, Ethics andLaw. He has also lectured on animal welfare at undergraduateand postgraduate level across UK universities.
