Recorded by his quartet in a single session in 1964, John Coltrane's A Love Supreme is widely considered one of the greatest jazz albums of all time. He is the author of Jazz Icons: Heroes, Myths, and the Jazz Tradition (Cambridge 2010), he is the founding editor of the international journal The Source: Challenging Jazz Criticism, and is currently co-editor of the Jazz Research Journal (Equinox).
