This handbook offers a comprehensive overview of the seven most extensively studied third-wave psychotherapies: Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Emotion Regulation Therapy (ERT), Functional Analytic Psychotherapy (FAP), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Schema Therapy. It also introduces two emerging modalities—Internal Family Systems (IFS) and Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TSY)—alongside Indigenous approaches and adaptations for diverse populations.

Edited by an international editorial team of leading scholars and practitioners, this volume is the only reference work that systematically examines the history, theoretical foundations, clinical applications, and therapist competencies of each therapy. Featuring a wide array of mindfulness- and process-based interventions, it provides an essential resource for researchers, students, clinicians, therapists, and allied health professionals seeking to understand the current landscape and future directions of third-wave psychotherapies.
