Über Autor(innen)

Vermeiren, Jan
Dr Jan Vermeiren is a Lecturer in Modern German History at the University of East Anglia. He studied Modern History, Politics, and German Literature at the Humboldt University of Berlin, the Free University of Berlin, and University College London (UCL). He completed a PhD at the UCL Centre for European Studies and has held various awards, including a Marie Curie Doctoral Fellowship and scholarships from the DAAD and the Studienstiftung des deutschen Volkes. Vermeiren's research covers a number of areas in German and Central European history in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries. He is particularly interested in German nationalism and geopolitical thought, the late Habsburg Monarchy, the First World War, and questions of European integration. He has published in three languages and given papers in Britain, Germany, Austria, the Netherlands, Spain, and France. Vermeiren is on the editorial board of the academic journal History and has peer-reviewed manuscripts for Nations and Nationalism, Austrian Studies, Routledge, and Palgrave Macmillan. He is a co-founder and coordinator of the international Research Network on the History of the Idea of Europe.
