Passion Music is a concert and liturgical work that continues Todd's fusion of jazz and choral music so successfully blended in his Mass in Blue. The structure highlights different points in the Passion journey, beginning with a new setting of 'There is a green hill far away' and including a short and evocative Stabat Mater, a movement focusing on the seven last words of Christ, and settings of 'Were you there when they crucified my Lord?' and 'When I survey the Wondrous
Cross'. While some sections are reflective and expressive, Todd also makes full use of his understanding of energetic jazz and gospel in this 40-minute work.

Über Autor(innen)

British composer and pianist Will Todd has worked at the Royal Opera House, the Lincoln Center in New York, London's Barbican, and with Welsh National Opera, award-winning choirs The Sixteen and the BBC Singers, and internationally renowned clarinettist Emma Johnson. Will Todd is best-known for his choral works, and his jazz-inspired Mass in Blue (2003) has been performed more than 100 times since its premiere. He won second prize in the 2002 International Giuseppe
Verdi Opera Competition, and his Jazz Concerto for Clarinet (2009) has been performed in the UK, USA, and Finland.
