HRVST is not a music magazine. It ´s not about telling you how a new record sounds or how the tour of our favorite band went. Instead we “harvest“ experiences, ideas and stories of people from the DIY music and art scene and produce a magazine that focuses on their individual stories and experiences, shedding light on a very up and close personal level, building on a bigger, more complex and truthful picture of who they really are and what makes them the persons they are. Beyond the stage, beyond the canvas, beyond what you seem to know about them, already. In the end uniting them in one single topic per issue. Following the first issue “Death“, the second issue of HRVST focuses on the topic of “Youth“.

Youth is a blazing flame. A fire fully erupting and ever growing.
A fiery chunk of coal turning into a bushfire that defines us because it burns us, and oh it burns
us good. As the days seem endless and filled with adventure and the nights cover
us in dreams of epic magnitude, we discover new worlds day by day. Youth is growing and aging,
it´s innocence lost, the purest of heartache, highest of joy and often deepest of sorrow.
It is here where we first question the world around us entirely, taking it apart brick by brick
without knowing how to build something out of the rubble, yet.
Like anything, youth does not last. As we grow, our skin hardens and our hearts tend to become
weary. Sometimes we have to remind ourselves that while some doors close shut for good,
others can be reopened and new ones must be discovered. That in order to be able to grasp new
things, we have to learn to kiss others goodbye. That there might be more to youth than just
being young, that youth might mean to let go.
Our souls are being shaped by our experiences and who´s to say that youth is always a time of joy?
For some of us it meant utterly destruction and pain. Facing the wind they can´t wait to walk
away from the days of adolescence. While it can provide the greatest outlook and hold promises
that fuel the young soul, it is also capable of turning our world into seemingly never-ending despair.
Youth is not caring and not having to.
It´s standing on uncovered ground, reconsidering directions and searching for answers.
For those who contributed to this issue and all of us, “Youth“ has many faces. It is the bold bravery
to stick to what is dearest to us and to admit that, like everything, this is open for change.
Youth is alteration. The ones who deny themselves this reality are bound to grow old in a way that
won´t turn into mildness and the wisdom of countless experiences.
