This collection of essays treats the fundamental issue of the correlation of archaeology and texts in recreating the ancient Mediterranean world. David B. Small, Ph.D. (1983) in Classical Archaeology, University of Cambridge, is Professor of Archaeology, Department of Sociology and Anthropology, Lehigh University. He has published most recently on social evolution in ancient Greece, and theoretical issues of archaeological interpretation.
