This book is an attempt to consolidate the published research related to the use of Supplementary Cementing Materials in cement and concrete. It comprises of five chapters. Each chapter is devoted to a particular supplementingcementing material. It is based on the literature/research findings published injournals/conference proceeding, etc. Topics covered in the book are; coal fly ash, silica fume(SF), granulated blast furnace slag (GGBS), metakaolin (MK), and rice husk ash (RHA).Each chapter contains introduction, properties of the waste material/by-product, its potentialusage, and its effect on the properties of fresh and hardened concrete and other cement basedmaterials.

Dr. Rafat Siddique is Senior Professor of Civil Engineering & Dean of Faculty Affairsat Thapar University, Patiala, India. He earned Ph.D. degree from Birla Institute ofTechnology & Science, Pilani, India, and did 22-months post-doctoral work at theUniversity of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, USA. He has been Visiting Professor to Universityof Cergy Pontoise, France; INSA Rennes, France; University of Wolverhampton, U.K.;Consolis Technology, Finland; and BAM Berlin, Germany. He is the author of a booktitled 'Waste Materials & Byproducts in Concrete', by SPRINGER. He has publishedmore than 125 research papers in journals and conference proceedings. He is reviewer of20 leading International Journals.Dr. Mohammad Iqbal Khan is Associate Professor in Structural Engineering,Department of Civil Engineering, King Saud University, Saudi Arabia. He is foundingmember and Managing Director of Center of Excellence for Concrete Research andTesting at King Saud University. He is formerly Lecturer of Structural Engineering,School of Civil Engineering, University of Nottingham, UK. He received his PhD degreefrom the University of Sheffield, UK in 1999. He is actively involved in research since1990 and has published more than 70 research papers in refereed international journalsand conferences proceedings. He is reviewer of five leading International Journals. Hehas one granted United States Patent and two pending United States Patents
