This book covers essential molecular techniques for crop improvement, including genotyping methods, genetic mapping, and marker-assisted selection. The book examines statistical tools for marker analysis, allele mining strategies, and gene pyramiding approaches. It explores comparative genomics, proteomics applications, and biotechnology methods including recombinant DNA technology and also includes:

- Comprehensive coverage of molecular markers and genotyping techniques for crop improvement

- Detailed statistical tools and methodologies for marker analysis and genetic mapping

- Practical applications of marker-assisted selection and allele mining strategies

- Integration of genomics, proteomics, and biotechnology in plant breeding programs

- Current approaches to gene pyramiding and development of enhanced derived varieties

Additional chapters address nanotechnology applications, male sterility systems, intellectual property rights, and bioinformatics tools. Designed for students and researchers in plant breeding, genetics, and biotechnology programs.

Jitendra Kumar is Assistant Professor at the Department of Zoology, Government Degree College, Kant, Shahjahanpur, Uttar Pradesh, India. He has received his Ph.D. Degree (Zoology) from the University of Lucknow, and has a Junior Research Fellowship from CSIR, New Delhi. Dr Kumar has authored one textbook, Plasma Membrane (Structure & Function) in 2024. The area of his research activities is focusing on biodiversity and wildlife conservation and management, wildlife-human conflicts, conservation of nature and natural resources, and environmental studies.

Damini Sharma is Assistant Professor at the College of Forestry and Research Station, Mahatma Gandhi Udyaniki Avam Vaniki Vishwavidyalaya, Sankara, Patan, Durg, Chhattisgarh, India. Her academic and research interests center around forest ecosystems, their provisioning services, environmental conservation, and ecosystem restoration, particularly in relation to biodiversity conservation in central India. Dr. Sharma has been recognized with awards such as the “Best Scholar Award” at the International Conference on Advances in Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, and Allied Sciences in 2023. She was also awarded a Gold Medal with two “Dan Data Padak” in her M.Sc. program for her outstanding academic performance.

Priya Gupta works as Researcher and Academician in the field of Genetics & Plant Breeding with a Ph.D. from Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, Raipur, India. Dr. Gupta has a background in molecular breeding and genetic characterization, with her previous studies incorporating advanced molecular techniques, such as marker-assisted selection and multiplexed molecular markers, for precise genetic differentiation. Her academic work has been recognized through prestigious awards, including the “Best Thesis Award 2024” conferred by the SSDAT at the IXth International Conference on GRISAAS-2024. She is dedicated to agricultural genetics and molecular breeding and aims to bridge the gap between fundamental research and applied agricultural solutions.

Namita Singh is Scholar and Researcher in the field of Genetics and Plant Breeding with a Ph.D. degree from Raipur’s Indira Gandhi Agriculture University, India. For accurate genetic distinction, she has used sophisticated molecular approaches in her earlier research, including marker-trait association analysis. Prestigious honors awarded to her in recognition of her academic achievements include the “Best Thesis Award 2024” for her M.Sc. thesis from the SSDAT at the IXth International Conference on GRISAAS-2024 and the “Scientist Associate Award 2018” from the Astha Foundation at the International Conference on GRISAAS 2018.

Mohammad Javed Ansari works as Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany, Hindu College Moradabad, UP, India. He earned his PhD in biotechnology from the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee, India, and MSc in botany from Ch. Charan Singh University Meerut, India. He has published more than 350 research/review articles in high-impact factor journals and more than 5 patents are registered by his name. He has worked as a Principal Investigator in many funded projects at King Saud University Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Pratima Raypa serves as Guest Faculty in the Department of Biochemistry at H.N.B. Garhwal University, Uttarakhand, India and holds a Ph.D. (Biochemistry) from the prestigious G. B. Pant University of Agriculture and Technology, Pantnagar, Uttarakhand, India. Dr. Raypa was awarded with UGC-NFST fellowship during her Ph.D. programme, besides which she was also awarded with the Young Scientist award. She has two years and four months of professional experience, and specializes in metabolite analysis, in vitro micropropagation of medicinal plants, and protein characterization of poultry sleeves.
