Robin Seager is Reader in Classics and Ancient History atthe University of Liverpool. He has previously lectured at theUniversity of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and was a VisitingResearch Fellow at the University of New England, Armidale andLangford Eminent Scholar Chair at Florida State University. Hisprevious books include Tiberius (1972) and AmmianusMarcellinus, Seven Studies in His Language and Thought(1986).
