Domenico Scarlatti gilt heute als einer der großen Klavierkomponisten der Musikgeschichte und als der erste Virtuose am Klavier überhaupt. Einige Sonaten erscheinen hier erstmals im Druck. Als zusätzliches Bonbon ist eine Vorrede im Original abgebildet, die 1738 einer Notenausgabe von 30 Klaviersonaten Scarlattis vorangestellt war. Sie ist für das Verständnis von Scarlattis Klaviermusik sehr aufschlussreich.
