Michael A. Sayette, PhD, is Professor of Psychology at the University of Pittsburgh, with a secondary appointment as Professor of Psychiatry at the Western Psychiatric Institute and Clinic, University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. He also serves on the faculty of the University of Pittsburgh Cancer Institute and the Center for the Neural Bases of Cognition, a joint program of the University of Pittsburgh and Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Sayette has published primarily in the area of substance abuse, with a focus on the development of psychological theories of alcohol and tobacco use. Dr. Sayette is a Fellow of the American Psychological Association, the Association for Psychological Science, and the Society for Personality and Social Psychology. He has served on National Institutes of Health grant review study sections and is on the editorial boards of several journals. He also has served as an associate editor of the Journal of Abnormal Psychology and of Psychology of Addictive Behaviors. Dr. Sayette is director of graduate studies in the psychology department at the University of Pittsburgh and has directed graduate admissions for the clinical psychology program. He has presented seminars on applying to graduate school at several universities in North America and Europe.
John C. Norcross, PhD, ABPP, is Distinguished Professor of Psychology at the University of Scranton, Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry at the State University of New York Upstate Medical University, and a board-certified clinical psychologist. He has been elected president of the International Society of Clinical Psychology, the American Psychological Association (APA) Division of Psychotherapy, and the Society for the Exploration of Psychotherapy Integration. With more than 400 scholarly publications, Dr. Norcross has authored or edited numerous books, including Leaving It at the Office, Second Edition: A Guide to Psychotherapist Self-Care and Insider's Guide to Graduate Programs in Clinical and Counseling Psychology: 2018/2019 Edition. He is a recipient of the Distinguished Career Contribution to Education and Training Award from the APA, the Pennsylvania Professor of the Year Award from the Carnegie Foundation, and the Rosalee Weiss Award from the American Psychological Foundation, and is an elected member of the National Academies of Practice. Dr. Norcross has given lectures and workshops in 30 countries.
