The <em>USS Rasher</em> had an extraordinary record in World War II: she sank 18 enemy ships and destroyed 99,901 tons-the second highest tonnage of the war. <strong>Peter Sasgen</strong> was born in Illinois in 1941. After graduating from college in Philadelphia, he served in the U.S. Navy and later worked as a graphic designer and photographer in Washington, D.C. He is the author of a technothriller about submarines titled <em>War Plan Red</em>.
