Ross, Florian
Florian Ross is Professor of Jazz Composition/Arrangement and Theory at Hochschule für Musik und Tanz in Cologne. He is an established pianist and composer known for his versatility and innovation in jazz and contemporary music. Born in Germany, the young pianist completed his musical career at Hochschule für Musik in Cologne, Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London and New York University.
Florian's compositions are known for their intricate harmonies and rhythmic complexity, seamlessly combining elements from different musical traditions. As a composer and arranger, he has written more than 300 commissioned works for German and international ensembles and is a regular guest conductor for the big bands of German radio stations. He regularly tours internationally as a pianist and Hammond organist and has released several recordings. As a lecturer, Florian is dedicated to nurturing the next generation of musicians, emphasizing the importance of structured thinking and creative application in composition.
