Der dritte Band zur Jahresschrift der Abteilung Archäologie der Hansestadt Lübeck liegt nun für das Jahr 2021 vor. Insgesamt 124 vollfarbige Seiten beinhalten die neusten Ausgrabungen und archäologischen Erkenntnisse, Forschungen, Berichte und Projekte aus dem UNESCO Welterbe der Lübecker Altstadt sowie dem angrenzenden Landgebieten bis hoch zur Ostseeküste. Unter anderem werden der mittlerweile „berühmte“ Lübecker Tortenfund, neues aus dem Handwerkerviertel oder aber die spannenden Befunde entlang des ältesten Backsteingebäudes der Stadt besprochen. Aus dem Landgebiet gibt es Neuigkeiten über die äußerst befundreichen Siedlungsgrabungen im Gewerbepark Semiramis – ein El Dorado für Vorgeschichte, unvorhergesehenes zu einer Kleingartenanlage bis hin zu Bunkern und schon vergessenen Flakstellungen des zweiten Weltkrieges. Einen Ausblick in die Zukunft bietet zudem noch ein Beitrag zur digitalen Fundaufnahme und die Einbindung der Archäologie in das digitale Kulturwerk der Hansestadt.
The year 2021 sees the publication of the third annual of the archaeological section of the Hanseatic City of Lübeck. The 124 full-colour pages describe the latest excavations and archaeological results, research, reports and projects from the UNESCO World Heritage site of Lübeck’s historic city centre and adjacent areas, as far as the shores of the Baltic. Amongst others, it covers the now “famous” Lübeck cake find, news from the craftsmen’s quarter and the exciting discoveries alongside the city’s oldest brick building. From the surrounding countryside, there are news concerning the settlement excavations in the Semiramis industrial park with its exceptional density of features – a veritable El Dorado for prehistory – as well as unexpected finds in an allotment area and already forgotten bunkers and anti-aircraft positions of the Second World War. Finally, a contribution on digital finds recording and the inclusion of archaeology into the city’s digital cultural life provides a glimpse into the future.
