This book seeks to move beyond superficial discussions of race, gender and sport. Drawing on diverse literature rooted in the politics of ‘other’ feminisms, it privileges the authentic voices of ethnic minority women and advances critical thinking pertaining to their engagement with sport. The book centralises the life histories, testimonies and narratives of ethnic minority women and girls from diverse social, cultural and religious geographies and sheds light on their struggles to exist within different subcultures of sport. From African-American women and girls to Palestinian Muslim women, this book brings to life their lived experiences like no other book on sport.
