Sema Rani presently serves as an Assistant Professor within the Department of Geography at the Institute of Science, Banaras Hindu University in Varanasi, India. Her academic journey includes earning a Ph.D. in Geography, focusing on the "Effect of Climate and Land Cover Changes on Flow Regime in the Upper Beas River Basin" from Jawaharlal Nehru University's Centre for the Study of Regional Development in 2018. Prior to this, she completed an M.Phil. in Geography titled "Assessment of the Influence of Climate Variability on the Snow Cover Area of the Upper Beas River Basin" from the same institution. Her professional experience encompasses roles as an Assistant Professor at Miranda House, University of Delhi, and a teaching assistant in the Department of Geography at Jawaharlal Nehru University. Additionally, she held a University Grant Commission of India (UGC) Junior & Senior Research Fellowship from 2012 to 2017. Her contributions have been acknowledged with the Best Paper Awardat the 4th International Conference on Science & Geopolitics of HIMALAYA-ARCTIC-ANTARCTIC in 2017. Notably, she has presented her research findings at 26 national and international conferences. Her research focus lies in hydrometeorology, particularly investigating evidence of climate change and variability and their consequential impacts on the hydrological responses within the Himalayan basin.
