Maryam Farhang's Home series shows various household items enfolded by figural and abstract imagery. The realm of domestic objects appears interwoven with a second living environment, one she is free to populate with fabulous creatures, mythical animals, and spontaneous narratives. The poetic “inscriptions” accompanying these intimate scenes provide sparsely worded accounts of traumatic memories. Against this background of absence and silence, their daily presence renders objects and figures part of a private world, a personal space both perceived and created.
