Written by experts with a combined 50 years of experience teaching, researching, and helping victims, this book provides practical steps to take in responding to domestic violence for practitioners and lay people, as well as ideas for policies with which to address domestic violence. Narratives by victims of intimate partner abuse provide a framework from which to assess the problem and then address the problem. It focuses on what can be practically done to address the problem at both the level of the individual practitioner dealing with a victim, and through creating effective policies, laws, and programs to assist victims and prevent violence. Foreword is written by Gloria Steinem.
