[Wisdom and Prophecy in the Context of the Second Temple]
More than any other period of ancient Israel’s history, the one following the Babylonian Exile has undergone a fundamental re-evaluation over the past 20 years. Applying new methodological approaches to the interpretation of the prophetic and sapiential literature of this period, the present volume provides an innovative contribution to research. In line with a major aim of the editors’, it brings together themes and texts that were approximately contemporaneous at that period but are often regarded separately today. The volume comprises articles about late prophetic scriptures such as Joël and Malachi, post-exilic Fortschreibungen, as found in Isaiah and Nahum, and late wisdom literature such as Qohelet and Ben Sira – including their reception in Qumran and the New Testament. It invites readers to study in depth post-exilic literature and enhances the understanding of the biblical scriptures in their context.
