Donald M. Nonini is Professor of Anthropology at theUniversity of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, USA. He has writtenextensively on state formation, local politics, ethnic and classrelations, the Chinese diaspora, and globalization in urbansettings in Southeast Asia, Australia, and the southern UnitedStates. His latest book is "Getting By" amongChinese in Malaysia: An Historical Ethnography of Class and StateFormation (2015).
