Die Studie untersucht die komplexen Beziehungen, die Carlo Emilio Gadda in seinem erzählerischen und essayistischen Werk zwischen Gedanken, Taten und Worten etabliert und prüft, wie sie sich zu anderen Konzepten, etwa Glück, Wollen und Können, Erkenntnis, Realität oder Zeit verhalten. Verstanden als in sich geschlossene, statische Systeme erteilt der große Erzähler der italienischen Moderne sowohl der Ausarbeitung einer Ethik, als auch der Formulierung einer Poetik eine Absage. Die Untersuchung von Stellenwert, kausalen Bezügen und idealen Gewichtungen von pensiero, azione und parola in Gaddas Texten kann gleichwohl die Koordinaten einer Schreibpraxis sichtbar machen, bei der sich Ethik und Ästhetik stets gegenseitig bedingen. Die Arbeit wurde 2018 mit dem Nachwuchspreis des Deutschen Italianistenverbandes ausgezeichnet.
The study examines the complex relationship that Carlo Emilio Gadda establishes in his narrative and essayistic work between thoughts, deeds and words and how they relate to other concepts such as happiness, will and ability, cognition, reality or time. Gadda rejects both the elaboration of ethics and the formulation of poetics as static and basically self-contained systems. By investigating into the significance, causal references and ideal weightings of pensiero, azione and parola in Gadda's texts, the author reveals the coordinates of a writing practice in which ethics and aesthetics are always mutually dependent. The work was awarded the Young Talent Prize of the German Italianists Association in 2018.
