2008 BMA Medical Book Competition Awards:

First Prize Paediatrics

Prepared in conjunction with the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH), MRCPCH MasterCourse has been constructed as a comprehensive package for trainees facing professional examinations in paediatrics and child health.

This volume (1) alone will be sufficient for candidates sitting the Diploma in Child Health (DCH) exams and doctors with a primary-care interest in child health.

It comes with an accompanying DVD containing video clips of clinical scenarios, and PIN access to a website with self-assessment and further learning materials.

Zielgruppe

For Volume 1:
In addition to aspiring paediatricians, this volume has an additional market among professionals with an interest in Paediatrics but who are not aiming to be specialists - e.g.:
GPs, especially those who previously took the DCH exam (the written part of which has been phased out as of Jan 04 and has been replaced by Part IA). The College expects an increase in the number of candidates attempting the DCH and the exam will now be held 3 times per year. Success in Part IA allows candidates 3 attempts at the DCH clinical, before having to re-sit Part IA.

Market size:

Part I: approximately 3000 candidates/year sit this part of the exam

Exam centres:

The MRCPCH exam is held in various cities in the UK and overseas:

MRCPCH Part I

UK: Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Southampton, Sheffield

Overseas: Abu Dhabi, Bahrain, Egypt, Ghana, Hong Kong, Jeddah, Jordan, Kuwait, Malawi, Malaysia, Malta, Myanmar, Nepal, Oman, Qatar, Riyadh, Singapore, Sudan, West Indies, Zimbabwe

DCH Part I:

UK: Belfast, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, Leeds, London, Southampton, Sheffield

Overseas: Hong Kong
