Due to the brief nature of arrhythmias, which may not be seen during the short recording periods of a typical ECG, Holter monitoring enables physicians to make more informed decisions on cardiac patients. This is a case-by-case instructional exercise on interpreting Holter monitorings in the pediatric setting. The cases illustrate the wide range of pediatric arrhythmias that are most commonly observed. Pediatric cardiologists, pediatricians, and pediatric arrhythmologists will develop the ability to analyze Holter ECGs in children of diverse ages.

Key Features:

- Covers various cardiac conditions, from supraventricular tachycardia, to long QT syndrome and cardiac pacemakers

- Uses real-life examples with patient history to enhance the learning experience of students and medical professionals

- Trains professionals to discern arrhythmias from electrical artifacts found during a Holter examination and to determine the appropriate timing for referring a patient for arrhythmogenic consultation or ablation procedures

Dr. Cismaru Gabriel is an adult and pediatric cardiologist specialized in cardiac arrhythmias. He gained his EHRA Certification in Invasive Cardiac Electrophysiology in 2019 and EHRA Certification in Cardiac Implantable Electronic Devices in 2021. During his daily medical activity he implants loop recorders for pediatric patients with syncope or suspicion of arrhythmias, and performs electrophysiological studies and catheter ablation for different types of arrhythmias. He also implants pacemakers in children with bradyarrhythmias and defibrillators for primary or secondary prevention of sudden cardiac death. He is also lecturer of the Cardiology Department of the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Iuliu Hatieganu Cluj-Napoca.

Associate professor Cecilia Lazea is a paediatric cardiologist at Emergency Paediatric Hospital Cluj-Napoca, Romania. She has graduated at University of Medicine and Pharmacy “Iuliu Hatieganu” Cluj-Napoca in 1996 and she was trained in Paediatrics and Paediatric Cardiology. She has benefited of research grants in France in 2000 and 2009, one of them in the field of Medical Genetics. She has been working at Paediatric Cardiology Department of the hospital since 2003. Her medical activity consists in taking care of the hospitalized patients with cardiovascular diseases and arrhythmia, medical advice and consultation of the patients with arrhythmias in the Emergency Department and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit and follow-up visits of the patients with cardiovascular diseases in the outpatient clinic. She has an extensive experience in paediatric arrhythmia, and she has read a significant number of paediatric ECG Holter monitoring and paediatric ECGs during his current medical activity on the Paediatric Cardiology Department. She is also experienced in genetic basis and molecular analysis of a large variety of arrhythmias and genetic cardiovascular diseases in children.

Dr. Simona-Sorana Cainap is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at the "Iuliu Hatieganu" University of Medicine and Pharmacy Cluj-Napoca. She is a specialist in Pediatric Cardiology and her current position is as a consultant in the Pediatric Cardiology Department of Clinic No. 2. In 2012, she was awarded an Erasmus scholarship to study at the Zentrum für Angeborne Herzfeler und Diabeteszentrum NRW Bad Oeynhausen, Germany. Dr. Cainap published articles on congenital heart diseases and pediatric cardiac arrhythmias. She conducted pediatric screenings for children with congenital diseases during her involvement in the POSDRU and HORIZON 2020 European projects, resulting in the collection of extensive databases that have been utilized in numerous publications in the field of pediatric arrhythmias.
