MARK E. LAUBACH is Chief Network Architect at RainmakerTechnologies, developing the home digital backbone for video,voice, and data networking. He is a cofounder and former CTO ofCom21 and is considered the father of the Com21 cable modemCommUNITY system. A key figure in modern international cable modemtechnology development, Laubach is the author of several landmarkpatents and standards.
DAVID J. FARBER is Chief Technologist at the FCC and the AlfredFitler Moore Professor of Telecommunication Systems at theUniversity of Pennsylvania. Over a distinguished career, he iscredited with several breakthroughs in distributed systemstechnology and key improvements of the early Internet. He serves onthe U.S. Presidential Advisory Committee on InformationTechnology.
STEPHEN D. DUKES is President and Chief Executive Officer ofImaginary Universes, which advises companies on development andinvestment of existing and new technologies. As the former vicepresident of Digital Broadband Technology, he was responsible forMediaOne's digital broadband development. As former vice presidentof technology with TCI, he was responsible for management anddevelopment of the DOCSIS specifications for high-speed data overcable networks.
