Personal Power puts you in charge of your life, whereas the lack of it makes you vulnerable to becoming a victim to outside forces. In fact, you can measure how much Personal Power you have attained in life by gauging both the levels of freedom and clarity you enjoy and the lack of fear that you experience.

Chapter Two Super Consciousness Nobody has been able to prove that the Creator exists. Many theologians and some scientists have done their best to prove that there is a Super Consciousness that controls all creation, but they have not succeeded in convincing everyone. Some people look for a tangible proof through the five senses of touch, smell, sight, sound and taste – the ‘I have to see it to believe it’ approach. Some people look for miracles. Even if they see one, however, they still struggle to believe what they see, and thus keep searching for more proof. Others turn to science seeking a more objective, seemingly rational understanding, hoping that science will come up with the answers. It seems that we may never find the tangible evidence and facts that prove beyond doubt ‘what’ this Creative Force is. Perhaps an easier way to understand is by exploring our faith, but this is too subjective for many; it does not satisfy the proof seekers, because the so-called hard evidence cannot be found here. Whether we like it or not, however, some faith is essential if we want to evolve to the higher levels of consciousness. While it does not serve us to have ‘blind’ faith – the kind which requires us to believe in something without questioning its validity – we do, nevertheless, need some faith that there is a Higher Power or Consciousness controlling everything, even if we do not understand it. A good starting point would be to postulate that there exists a Super Consciousness. This book begins with the premise that there is a Creative Force that created everything, and that one of the characteristics of this Force is that It expresses Itself through unconditional love. If we experience this unconditional love, therefore, we will come to know a part of this Super Consciousness. By knowing a part of It, hopefully, we will be inspired enough to seek more. This type of love means that there are ‘no strings attached’: we don’t have to earn it, and even if we reject it, its flow will not alter. Its flow is the rhythm of life that endlessly flows throughout creation with an energy that is gently pulling everything towards it like a magnet. Even though this pull is lovingly gentle, we cannot even begin to comprehend its power. The more we experience the love, the more we see this truth; the more we reject it, the more isolated and lonely we become. Once we come to know this unconditional love through experience, it will encourage us to look further. The more we look, the more we see, the more we therefore experience. Through experience, we develop more faith; the more faith we develop, the more we believe; the more we believe, the more we see, the more we experience. This cycle can also be seen as a ‘chicken and egg’ situation; it does not really matter in what order it happens. We can jump on the merry-go-round at any stage. This faith – action – experience – belief process is a self-perpetuating cycle whereby we come to know higher consciousness. This process also helps us to raise our own consciousness and start to recognise our own personal power. It seems to be far easier to believe in a Creative Force by experiencing Its unconditional love than by any other method. Everyone can experience and understand love because it is something tangible: even though it is subjective, we can, nevertheless, feel it in our hearts. It is available for us to experience now, whereas other sorts of evidence and proof are not so forthcoming. We need love to attain the higher levels of consciousness There is a lot more to love than simply expressing and receiving it. In order for it to flow freely, we have to heal the blockages held in our hearts and beliefs. These blockages dissipate as our awareness becomes more evolved. The only way we can evolve to the highest levels of consciousness is by changing and healing the negative belief systems of our human vehicle – the Ego. This brings us into balance and harmony with the Universal truths of creation. This then frees us to truly connect with the centre of creation which is found deep within, or at the very core of our Being. The blockages create layers over this core, so we cannot have a pure connection without removing them one at a time, starting at the surface and working our way down. Many people connect outwardly with the Creator through prayer, meditation, rituals and by other activities. To communicate and honour the Creator through these practises is fine, but it creates confusion if one believes that this is the way we evolve our consciousness. Some people pray for help and guidance thinking that the answer lies outside them, but all the while the answer lies within. Others increase their knowledge and understanding by studying and reading information on spiritual subjects. This information can be very inspiring, and we certainly have been left some wonderful inspirational messages and guidelines from the Masters and others. Even though the knowledge can be empowering, we still need to apply it to life, and this is where many seekers stumble! How do we apply these concepts to our life and how do we know if we are on the right track? Day to day situations and problems often arise when people are not sure of what they should do for the best. How each individual reacts depends upon what level of consciousness they have reached. Many of these concepts seem easy at first to understand. Yet when we are confronted with a challenge, all of a sudden they are not so clear anymore, and confusion sets in! There are also those who try to connect through nature and the world outside of themselves. Others believe that by expressing love or doing loving acts, they too will evolve. Because they think that the Creative Force exists outside themselves, they seek to connect with this Force through outside activities. This may come as a shock to many, but expressing love or doing loving acts does not necessarily help us evolve our consciousness, nor does it always reflect someone who is consciously evolving. It may only reflect someone who thinks or believes that they are. The only way we can evolve is by Raising Our Consciousness! This is an inward activity, not an outward one. Outward activities only reflect what is going on inside, but even these can be deceptive to the receiver or observer because these expressions may not be as loving as they seem (we will explore this idea later). So how do we know if we are getting the results that we desire, and how do we know if we are really evolving to higher levels? Fortunately for us, the Creator has supplied us with some great feedback and self-monitoring systems to help us know how we are going. Unfortunately, however, many of us have lost touch with these systems. Our heads get in the road of our hearts, or in other words, we think too much and don’t listen to our feelings. How we can monitor ourselves will be explored throughout the book. Life can be one big grand evolutionary experience. The main things that prevent us enjoying the journey are our belief systems. I was brought up in an environment where there was a strong belief in Heaven: A place where we go to be with the Creator; a place of bliss, a place of total harmony and balance with an endless supply of everything we could ever want (ask and we shall receive); a safe haven away from the traumas of life; a place with many rewards for our labours and rest from our trials and tribulations; a place of absolute peace and – ultimately – love. It sounds like a wonderful place, so who wouldn’t want to be there? But is it really a place? When I was a young child, I became attached to the desire of being in this place called Heaven. I was fortunate to grow up in a loving family environment with a relatively comfortable lifestyle; Heaven, nevertheless, sounded a whole lot better than the reality of this earth plane in which I was living at the time. I was brought up in the small farming community of Morawa in Western Australia during those early years after the Second World War when there was a lot of optimism. Being the start of a very affluent time in Australia, it was one of the best environments in which a child could grow up. It was, however, no match for this Heaven of which the churches spoke. Heaven was described as a place or lifestyle where we go when we die, providing that we had been a ‘good person’. It is a place in the ‘after life’ where we go to rest. Or is it? There is a lot of information available which supports the belief that Heaven is a state of being, a state of mind, a state of consciousness or awareness, and is as achievable during this life as it is any other time or place. This is the crux of understanding what life is all about: the purpose of our life on earth is to give ourselves an opportunity to evolve by creating experiences and emotional environments (States of Mind) where we can choose to raise our level of consciousness, or not. It is up to us what we choose! If we go back to the statement about Heaven and substitute the word place with the word state then we can see that it is possible for us to achieve this state during our life time. We can choose to be in this state at any time. Not only is it entirely up to us, it is only up to us. This is the bottom line! There is a lot of guidance and support to help us on our journey, but in the end we make the choices as to where our journey takes us. We create our own path towards this state of being. In fact, every day we make choices that will lead us either towards or away from this loving state. Ultimately, we are also making...
