The continuously unfolding area of Ubiquitous and Pervasive Computing is joined by new generations of researchers and PhD students, in academia and industry. Therefore, the authors had proposed to revive the presentation of conference tutorials on PERVASIVE 2007. Such tutorials had been held in earlier years in the series, leveraging the expertise that this premier conference brings together. Facing the large number of sub-disciplines that have grown from the initial concept of Pervasive Computing, the authors opted for a set of eight lectures of one hour each, covering a broad range of topics being delivered to a large number of participants.
