Gerhard Wolf is Director at the Kunsthistorisches Institut in Florenz, Max-Planck-Institut, and Honorary Professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin. He has published extensively on theories and uses of the image in religion and art, especially of the image of Christ. Major research topics include sacred topographies in an interreligious perspective; Mediterranean art histories from Late Antiquity to the Early Modern period and the history of globalisation.
