In the years between 1959 and 1969, the psychiatrist Medard Boss repeatedly invited Martin Heidegger to his home in the Swiss community of Zollikon on Lake Zurich to develop the so-called "Daseinsanalyse" in the course of private seminars. Heidegger took the opportunity to examine his reflections based on his conception of “Dasein” put forth in “Sein und Zeit” in direct contact with psychiatrists, psychotherapists and psychoanalysts. Questions about the time, space and corporeality of "Dasein" are discussed, as well as the emerging cybernetics and their influence on psychology. Volume 89 of the Complete Edition of Heidegger´s writings, unlike the separate issue of “Zollikoner Seminare” published by Medard Boss, contains all the preparatory material from Heidegger's estate. It serves to show that Heidegger´s occupation with questions of psychology was considerably more penetrating than was previously recognized.
