Hashim Hashim is a specialist in female and functional urology and urodynamics. He graduated in 1998 from St Bartholomew's and the Royal London School of Medicine and Dentistry, University of London, UK. In 2001, he became a Member of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and finished his specialist registrar training in urology in Bristol, UK. In 2008 he became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons, and Fellow of the European Board of Urology in 2009. He completed a fellowship in female and functional urology at Leicester General Hospital (UK) and Leuven (Belgium). Dr Hashim completed his clinical research in urology at the Bristol Urological Institute, UK, with Professor Paul Abrams, and was awarded an MD in 2009. His main research interests include the overactive bladder, urinary incontinence, nocturia and urodynamics.

Paul Abrams is considered one of the world's leading experts in the field of lower urinary tract dysfunction. He is currently Professor of Urology, University of Bristol, and Consultant Urological Surgeon at the Bristol Urological Institute, Southmead Hospital. Professor Abrams has served as General Secretary of the International Continence Society (ICS), a position he held from 1985 to 2003. In addition, he was Chairman of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd International WHO International Consultations on Incontinence, Chairman of the Urodynamic Sub-committee of the International WHO Consultation on Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia and is Vice-Chairman of the International Consultation on Urological Diseases (ICUD). He is a member of several editorial boards, an expert reviewer as well as a journal referee for many leading urology journals. Professor Abrams is also a founding member and trustee of the Bristol Urological Institute, a position he has held since 1993 and was the Institute's Director of Research.
