This volume is based on different aspects of chemical technology that are associated with research and the development of theories for chemical engineers, helping to bridge the gap between classical analysis and modern, real-life applications. The book provides practical insights into many areas of chemical engineering.

This book introduces the current state-of-the-art technology in key materials with an emphasis on the rapidly growing technologies. It takes a unique approach by presenting specific materials, then progresses into a discussion of the ways in which these novel materials and processes are integrated into today's functioning manufacturing industry

Taking an interdisciplinary approach, the authors present the current state-of-the-art technology in key materials with an emphasis on the rapidly growing technologies. The volume presents new research on an array of new developments and technique that will be valuable for chemists and chemical engineers.

Topics include:

The Use of Animals Models of Inflammation and Pain in Biomedical Research

ZnO Nanostructure/Polymer Dielectric Films for Electronic and Optoelectronic Device Applications

Alexander V. Vakhrushev, DSc, is a professor at the M.T. Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University in Izhevsk, Russia, where he teaches theory, calculating, and design of nano- and microsystems. He is also the Chief Researcher of the Department of Information-Measuring Systems of the Institute of Mechanics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Head of the Department of Nanotechnology and Microsystems of Kalashnikov Izhevsk State Technical University. He is a Corresponding Member of the Russian Engineering Academy. He has over 400 publications to his name, including monographs, articles, reports, reviews, and patents. He has received several awards, including an Academician A. F. Sidorov Prize from the Ural Division of the Russian Academy of Sciences for significant contribution to the creation of the theoretical fundamentals of physical processes taking place in multi-level nanosystems and Honorable Scientist of the Udmurt Republic. He is currently a member of editorial board of several journals, including Computational Continuum Mechanics, Chemical Physics and Mesoscopia, and Nanobuild. His research interests include multiscale mathematical modeling of physical-chemical processes into the nano-hetero systems at nano-, micro- and macro-levels; static and dynamic interaction of nanoelements; and basic laws relating the structure and macro characteristics of nano-hetero structures.

Reza Haghi, PhD, is a research assistant at the Institute of Petroleum Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh, Scotland, United Kingdom. Dr. Haghi has published several papers in international peer-reviewed scientific journals and has published several papers in conference proceedings, technical reports, and lecture notes. Dr. Haghi is expert in the development and application of spectroscopy techniques for monitoring hydrate and corrosion risks and developed techniques for early detection of gas hydrate risks. He conducted integrated experimental modeling in his studies and extended his research to monitoring system to pH and risk of corrosion. During his PhD work at Heriot-Watt University, he has developed various novel flow assurance techniques based on spectroscopy as well as designed and operated test equipment. He received his MSc in Advanced Control Systems from the University of Salford, Manchester, England, United Kingdom.

J. V. de Julián-Ortiz, PhD, was a postdoctoral scholarship holder at the Institute of Computational Chemistry of the University of Girona, Spain, at the Molecular Engineering group directed by Prof. Ramon Carbó-Dorca. He worked as a researcher of the Network of Research Centers of Tropical Diseases, Faculty of Pharmacy-University of Valencia, Spain. He worked in the design and molecular dynamics of structure-directing agents for the synthesis of zeotype materials at the Institute of Chemical Technology—Spanish Scientific Council (CSIC)—Polytechnic University of Valencia at the group of Prof. Avelino Corma. From 2010 to 2015 he was part-time professor at the University of Valencia and project technician at several private foundations, co-financed by a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Innovation. He has also been founder of MOLware SL and Scientific Director in ProtoQSAR SL. This last contract was partially financed by the "Torres Quevedo" Program, a competitive basis grant that belongs to the Program for the Promotion of Talent and Employability in R+D of the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Finance and the European Social Fund.
