Nilgün Balkaya is a Professor at the Department of Environmental Engineering, Istanbul University, Turkey. Her main research interests are water pollution control, mainly focused on the use of low-cost adsorbents for treatment of wastewater containing pollutants such as pesticides, heavy metals and dyes. Her current fields of research include soil, water and sediment pollution, and soil and sediment remediation.

Dr. Sinan Güneysu graduated from Istanbul University, Department of Environmental Engineering in 2000, and gained his MSc and PhD degrees from Istanbul University. He has been working at the Department of Environmental Engineering of Istanbul University for 17 years. His research interests include industrial wastewater treatment, waste minimization and adsorption.
