George A. Grätzer specializes in lattice theory and universal algebra. He is known for his books on LATEX and his proof of the Grätzer–Schmidt theorem. He founded the journal Algebra Universalis in 1970. George is a fellow of the Royal Society of Canada and a member of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. He has published about 270 research articles and 33 books including Universal Algebra (1960, 1979); Lattice Theory (1971, 1998, 2011); Math into LATEX (1999; sixth edition 2024); and The Congruences of a Finite Lattice (2006, 2016, 2024).
