Peter Godman is Professor of Medieval and Renaissance Latin at the University of Tübingen. He is the author of From Poliziano to Machiavelli: Florentine Humanism in the High Renaissance (Princeton) and Poets and Emperors: Frankish Politics and Carolingian Poetry.
