This book provides a meaningful review of state-of-the-art reconfigurable logic systems, spanning a broad range of expertise from architectures, tools, and applications to emerging technologies. Field Programmable Gate Arrays are one of the most famous architectural families of reconfigurable devices. Historically, reconfigurable logic and FPGAs were categorized together; now the shift in traditional computation systems is towards large arrays of fine-grain simple processors and low-level software control in high-performance circuits, such as Graphical Processor Units (GPU) or Multi-Processor System-on-Chips (MPSoCs).

Pierre-Emmanuel Gaillardon works for EPFL, Lausanne, Switzerland, as a research associate at the Laboratory of Integrated Systems (LSI). He holds an Electrical Engineer degree from CPE Lyon, France, awarded in 2008, an MSc degree from INSA Lyon, France, also attained in 2008, and a PhD awarded in 2011 in Electrical Engineering from the University of Lyon, France. Previously, he was research assistant at CEA-LETI, Grenoble, France. Dr. Gaillardon was involved in the Nanosys project, and his current research activities and interests are focused on emerging nanoscale devices and their use in digital circuits and architectures. He is a recipient of the C-Innov 2011 best thesis award and the Nanoarch 2012 best paper award. He has been serving as TPC member for Nanoarch’s 2012 and 2013 conferences. Dr. Gaillardon serves as a reviewer for several journals (AIP APL, IEEE TNANO, IEEE TVLSI, ACM JETC), conferences (ICECS 2012, ISCAS 2013), and funding agencies (ANR, Chairs of Excellence program of Nanosciences Foundation).
