Der Theater- und Opernregisseur Klaus Michael Grüber (1941–2008) war zeitlebens von Flucht und Migration nicht existenziell betroffen. Dennoch fühlte er sich den in seinen Inszenierungen immer wieder auftauchenden Immigranten, Flüchtlingen, Heimatlosen 'an der großen Straße', 'dunklen Gestalten des Volkes', nicht sesshaften Clochards offenbar nahe. Weit davon entfernt, die Wanderschaft solcher Verlorenen in seiner Kunst für die Ideologie einer Christus-Nachfolge in Dienst zu nehmen, transponierte und transformierte er vielmehr deren Lebensprinzip in dasjenige eines homo viator unter den Vorzeichen des kommenden Gottes Hölderlins und Heideggers. Der Band versammelt Unterlagen aus dem Privatarchiv von Martin Grüber und dem Klaus Michael Grüber-Archiv der Berliner Akademie der Künste im Sinne neuer Grundlagenforschung in Gestalt unterschiedlichster Lebenszeugnisse sowie Text- und Bilddokumente, bereichert durch Beiträge von künstlerischen wie privaten Weggefährten.
The executor Martin Grüber has given the editors Klaus Dermutz and Friedemann Kreuder permission to publish documents from his private archive and the Klaus Michael Grüber-archive at the Berlin Academy of Arts. With the presentation of these archival documents and the publication of new texts, this volume reflects new basic research to be used by future generations of theatre historians. The different documents of Grüber’s life, including the perspectives of texts and photographs of his artistic work, are completed by contributions by artistic and personal friends and colleagues. Numerous memory-fragments of Grüber’s theatre fit together like different coloured small stones in a kaleidoscope.
