Railway Safety Management: Systems, Practices, and Emerging Trends offers a comprehensive and practical guide to managing safety in the rail transport sector. The book provides an in-depth analysis of safety and maintenance management systems (SMS and MMS), risk assessment procedures and safety culture strategies, all in line with the latest EU legislation and best practice.

Drawing on both theoretical frameworks and real-world examples from across Europe, the book illustrates how integrated safety systems can improve operational performance and regulatory compliance. The authors offer comparative country analyses, case studies and discussion prompts to support both academic instruction and hands-on implementation. It is especially valuable to those involved in safety audits, certification processes and the ongoing development of modern railway safety frameworks.

Written for railway professionals, safety managers, policymakers, researchers and students in transport-related fields, this book bridges the gap between regulation and practice. It equips readers with tools for evaluating the significance of changes, integrating optional management systems and applying predictive technologies to maintenance planning.
