The volume is humorously titled after a passage from the novel “The hitch-hiker‘s guide to the galaxy“ which the honoured likes to quote. It contains a foreword by the editors, three lists of Gebühr‘s films and publications and of university theses supervised by him as well as 35 scholarly contributions. They cover a time span from the Pleistocene to the present day and a spatial range from America via Europe to Russia and from Scandinavia to Sudan. In detail the articles are dealing with settlements [settlement density, prehistoric house use, Medieval city history], graves [cemetery analyses, bog bodies, cremations, princely burials, sets of pottery vessels, infant graves], appearance and dress [Suebic hair knot, textiles], handaxes, drinking-horns, runic inscriptions, religion [Irminsul, change of belief in Northern Europe], possible interpretations of hoards, rock art in the Sahara desert, climatic change in Sudan, museums and exhibitions, the image of the Celts in archaeological historiography, the history of war [origin, weapons], and last but not least the problem of chances for archaeologists on the labour market.
