Dr. Adam D M Briggs graduated from Cambridge in 2004 and moved to Oxford University to study graduate-entry medicine. He worked in North East London from 2008 to 2010 as a junior doctor—including an academic foundation job in public health and primary care. He completed his MRCP in 2011 and started as an NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow and Specialty Registrar in Public Health back in Oxford. In 2011-12, he completed an MSc in Global Health Medicine and his MFPH exams (including being awarded the 2013 McEwen Award for highest scoring candidate in the Part B OSPHE). After placements at the former local primary care trust and health protection unit, and at the local acute hospital trust, he is now a Wellcome Trust Research Training Fellow studying for a DPhil in population health.

Paul A. Fisher graduated as a Geologist and lectured for a decade in the Czech Republic (Brno) and Russia (Moscow). On his return to the UK, he trained as an environmental scientist at the University of East Anglia and worked for six years at the Health Protection Agency focusing on climate change, public health, planning, and environmental assessment tools. He then specialised in public health, joining the West Midlands training scheme. He passed his MFPH Part A and Part B (for which he was awarded the 2012 McEwen Award for highest scoring candidate in the Part B OSPHE) examinations in 2011 and completed his training to become a Generalist Specialist in public health in 2014. He is currently a Research Fellow at the University of Birmingham, undertaking a PhD in the health impacts of climate change.

Dr. Rob F. Cooper graduated from Cambridge in 1977 and then undertook Clinical medical training and qualifying in medicine at Birmingham University. He undertook higher specialist training in Public Health, obtaining his certificate for the Completion of Specialist Training in 1987. After working as a Consultant in Public Health for 2 years, he was appointed as Director of Public Health to Solihull in the UK from 1990 to 1998. Since then he has been Associate Postgraduate Dean in Public Health to the West Midlands Postgraduate Deanery in the UK, now part of Health Education England. In 2004, the Board of the Faculty of Public Health asked him to lead a team to develop an OSPHE Objective Structure Public Health Examination. Under his leadership, it was implemented in 2005 and has remained little changed from its original form.
