This study argues that the practices of European integration reproduce, rather than transcend, the practices of modern statecraft. Stefan Borg is a Research Fellow at the Swedish Institute of International Affairs and a Visiting Lecturer at the Department of Economic History, Stockholm University, where he teaches International Relations. His work has previously appeared in Journal of International Relations and Development, Geopolitics, and Interventions: International Journal of Postcolonial Studies.
