1. Why did you choose this topic?
The relationship between art and philosophy has repeatedly occupied Susanne Valerie and me in our research over the past 20 years. Why do philosophers regularly emerge who begin to write their philosophies in a poetic style? Is this just coincidence, or is there a historical necessity secretly at work, in which a new type of philosopher is emerging? Philosophers, who cross philosophy and art in a novel way to create a sensitive image of thinking? Sensitive thinking, thinking sensitivity.
2. What new perspectives does your book offer?
In 'Beyond Good and Evil', Nietzsche announces a new species of philosophers who are characterized by a new sense of taste. They perceive things differently than their ancestors. Not only do they think differently, they also taste the world differently. To put such a new image of thinking into practice, we develop new perspectives on what it means to write philosophically in connection with the arts and how to overcome handed-down distinctions between mind, sensuality, and the heart.
3. What makes your topic relevant for current research debates?
First, our book challenges the long-standing relationship between art and philosophy to pave the way for a new intersection between the two disciplines. Second, we challenge the traditional concept of the heart and mind as separate entities. Instead, we treat them as interacting spheres operating in a person's heart-mind as the seat of their aesthetic sense of taste. The seat of one's aesthetic sense of taste.
4. Choose one person you would like to discuss your book with!
Sandra Noeth, Dieter Mersch, Alice Lagaay or Laura Cull.
5. Your book summary in one sentence:
Philosophy becomes a vulnerable matter when aesthetic sensibility is incorporated into it.
