Neurobiology of Metaplasticity provides in-depth coverage of research on metaplasticity in the nervous system. Coverage includes metaplasticity induction and expression, pathways and receptors, and metaplasticity impact on behavior, learning, and memory. The book explores metaplasticity in different parts of the nervous system, including the hippocampus, human cortex, spinal cord, and visual cortex. Metaplasticity’s impact on disease states is also explored including dementia, aging, stroke, and depression. Finally the book reviews applications of metaplasticity in drug research, artificial intelligence, and machine learning.

Bashir, Shahid
Dr. Shahid Bashir is currently working as a Neuroscientist at the King Fahad Specialist Hospital - Dammam. He received his PhD from the University of Freiburg. Dr. Bashir's research focus is in establishing cortical plasticity biomarkers using non-invasive transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) in combination with electroencephalography (EEG) and electromyography (EMG). Currently his research revolves around enhancing the concepts of synaptic plasticity in normal individuals either with or without pharmacological interventions. The use of such biomarkers holds special promise for better understanding the pathophysiology behind diseases like TBI and aging. He is also interested in combining navigated TMS with brain imaging to explore cross-modal plasticity following brain lesions.
