The focus of ARCHIVUM EURASIAE MEDII AEVI is on the Eurasian steppes and adjoining regions from late antiquity to the Mongol Empire and its successor states. It is primarily concerned with questions regarding the steppe peoples speaking Iranian languages, the Huns, the Oghur and Bulghar Turkic speaking peoples, the Sabirs, the Rouran/Avars, the Khazars and other peoples of the Türk Empire and its successors, as well as the Hungarians, Pechenegs, Cumans and peoples of the Mongol Empire. The periodical will elucidate various questions of Turkic history and philology and will also touch on the many intersecting points in the relations of the Eurasian steppe peoples with the history of the Slavic World, Byzantium, Iran, the Caucasus, the lands of Islam, the peoples of Central and Northern Europe, China and South Asia.
