Akhavan-Safar, Alireza
Dr. Akhavan-Safar has a background in various areas related to adhesive joints, including fatigue, fracture, impact, ageing, and numerical simulations, and the results of his prolific research have been published in books and journals. He is the Editor-in-Chief of the Journal on Mechanics of Solids (University of Porto) and a member of the editorial board of the Journal of Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (SAGE), Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications (SAGE), and the Journal of Metals (Springer). Dr. Akhavan-Safar is often involved in state-of-the-art industry projects and is also a member of the organizing and scientific committees of several international conferences.

Da Silva, Lucas F M
Lucas F. M. da Silva is currently Professor of Mechanical Engineering, Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto, Portugal, and Director of the Integrated Masters in Mechanical Engineering. He obtained his PhD in bonding of composites from the University of Bristol (UK) in 2004. Prof. da Silva leads the Adhesives Group, composed of post-docs, PhD students and MSc students, regularly organizes international conferences on adhesive bonding, and leads the Portuguese Adhesion Society, which he founded. He has published over 200 papers and 24 books, mainly on adhesive joint mechanics, and works on the editorial board of several journals. Prof. da Silva has also developed a software for designing adhesive joints and acts as a consultant for several international companies

A.S. Marques, Eduardo
Prof. obtained his PhD in Structural Adhesive Bonding for Aerospace Applications at from the University of Porto in 2016. His research activity focuses on mechanical characterization, numerical modelling, and experimental testing of the mechanical behavior of structural joints, with special attention to the effect of high strain rates, extreme temperature, and high relative humidity on the behavior of various materials and bonded structures. He has authored multiple books and research articles on mechanical joining and materials science.

J C Carbas, Ricardo
Dr. Carbas obtained his PhD in Adhesively Bonded Functionally Graded Joints from the University of Porto in 2013. Alongside journal article publishing, he is often involved in the organization of international conferences on materials and adhesive bonding. He is also a member of the editorial board of Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers (SAGE), Part L: Journal of Materials: Design and Applications (SAGE), and the Journal of Advanced Joining Processes (Elsevier). He holds six patents related to production methods and testing of structural adhesive bonds and, on occasion, does consultancy work for both national (e.g., Bosch, Amtrol) and international (e.g., Nagase Chemtex, John Deere, etc.) companies.
