With his beginnings in the US intelligence community more than 25 years ago, Rosendo Abellera has made a life-long career out of utilizing data as a critical asset with intelligence and analytics. During the 1990s, his earlier career in software development resulted in the creation of four commercial software packages and culminated in a role as a Database Performance Engineer at a prolific, multi-vendor database benchmarking and optimization lab (sponsored by Oracle, EMC, and Intel) which launched his career in Data Warehousing (DW).
As a pioneer and early adopter of modern DW as well as Business Intelligence (BI) tools and technologies for the commercial world, he personally architected BI/DW solutions for leading companies such as Comcast, Diamond.com, Global Signal, John Hancock Financials, and Mercury Systems. In addition, he has consulted to a multitude of major organizations across various industries regarding BI and DW including AAA, Boston College, British Telecom, ESPN, Harvard University, LexisNexis, Pfizer, Staples, State Street, Toyota, and US Steel. With a passion for architecting, implementing, and continuously honing the craft, he has held key management positions to establish the DW and BI practices of several organizations including Accenture. Rosendo is a veteran of the US Air Force and the National Security Agency (NSA) where he served worldwide (primarily in Europe and Asia) as a linguist and certified intelligence analyst for several languages. He received commendations for his service overseas and for the First Gulf War.
