International Arts Therapies Research: Arts therapies in the treatment of depression is a comprehensive compilation of expert knowledge on arts therapies’ potential in successfully addressing depression. Since depression is an extremely common condition among clients and patients of arts therapists, identifying best possible ways of addressing the condition in therapy sessions, sharing experience of tools which seem to work best and discussing particularly relevant aspects of depression will inevitably lead to a conscious and confident evidence-based practice.

The book includes contributions from international experts in the field of arts therapies, presenting research projects undertaken recently, whether in the form of clinical trials, surveys or case studies. The three sections of the book correspond to particular life stages and explore how to treat children, adults and older people who suffer from depression, whilst individual chapters represent all four arts therapies disciplines. By presenting high-profile research from these disciplines, Zubala and Karkou hope to improve existing arts therapies practice, empower practitioners to successfully work with depression and encourage them to share current research evidence with other professionals working in the health, education and arts sectors.

Arts therapies in the treatment of depression is an essential resource for arts therapies researchers, practitioners and arts therapists in training. Moreover, it should also be of interest to other health researchers and health professionals, particularly those who work with clients experiencing depression in multidisciplinary teams.
