This study is dedicated to the evaluation and reconstruction of notes on the young Friedrich Carl von Savigny (1779–1861), published in 2024 by Stephan Meder under the title “Franz Peter Bremer. Der junge Savigny zwischen Frühromantik und Rechtswissenschaft” which were compiled over 100 years ago by the Strasbourg law professor Dr Franz Peter Bremer (1832–1916) in preparation for a major biography of the founder of the German historical school of jurisprudence. This publication is also aimed at those who are not familiar with the so-called Bremer-Nachlass (estate of Bremer). The study shows: The interest in approaches to the history of ideas, biographical information and formative networks within Savigny research is older than previously assumed.
