Creating Safe and Supportive Schools and Fostering Students’ Mental Health provides pre-service educators with the tools they need to prevent, pre-empt, manage, and recover from threats and crises in their schools. Integrating leading research with the well-respected Framework for Safe and Successful Schools, this book fills an increasingly urgent need for a comprehensive roadmap about safety in language appropriate for teachers, school-based mental health professionals, support personnel, school resource officers, and school administrators. Over the last decade, teachers and administrators have been called on more than ever to cope with bullying, suicide, threats to students and school personnel, and school violence. This volume includes new research, practical strategies, applicable examples, and in-depth interviews from national experts on how educators can help support school safety, crisis management, and students’ mental health.
