Seit der Pandemie ist Verwundbarkeit über den Bereich individuellen Erlebens zu einem Thema des kollektiven Bewusstseins geworden. Noch gesteigert durch die politischen Krisen der Gegenwart und deren Auswirken sind selbstverständliche Sicherheiten und damit die Grundlagen des Zusammenlebens in weiten Teilen der Welt verlorengegangen. Es sind Zeiten, in denen der Ruf nach Gottes Macht theologisch naheliegend zu sein scheint. Gleichwohl gehört zum Glauben, der bei Jesus Christus ansetzt, die Einsicht, dass sich Gottes Macht nicht anders als in Gottes Verwundbarkeit zeigt. Diese Einsicht heute zur Sprache zu bringen, ist das Ziel der Beiträge dieses Bandes aus Exegese, Systematischer Theologie und Psychologie. Diese Beiträge beruhen auf Vorträgen, die anlässlich der Jahreskonferenz der Gesellschaft für Evangelische Theologie (20.–22. Februar 2023) in Hohenwarth gehalten wurden.

[Jesus Christ. God's power and God’s vulnerability]
Since the pandemic, vulnerability has gone beyond the realm of individual experience to become a topic of collective awareness. Exacerbated by the political crises of the present day and their effects, self-evident certainties and thus the foundations of coexistence have been lost in large parts of the world. These are times in which the call for God's power seems to be theologically obvious. At the same time, the faith that begins with Jesus Christ includes the insight that God's power cannot be seen in any other way than in God's vulnerability. The aim of the contributions in this volume from the fields of exegesis, systematic theology and psychology is to bring this insight to the fore today. These contributions are based on lectures given at the annual conference of the Society for Protestant Theology (February 20-22, 2023) in Hohenwarth.
